This stat above was shared by my appraiser and friend, Ryan Lundquist- and I think it is such a powerful statistic and I can tell you-it’s TRUE!
The Bay Area is recognized across the country for one thing imparticular: The Expense of Living there. Yet, only 2 hours away- give or take is the Sacramento Region where the median listing price for a single family home is currently at $750,000 in Placer County, and median listing price of $599,000 in Sacramento County. In addition to the more affordable homes this area offers, we also offer so many other amazing things…
Schools- Sacramento and Placer County are homes to some of the best schools in the state of California and many people are relocating here due to the schools only to discover everything else the area offers. If schools are at the top of your list in priority, I can help you with this and can even share my perspective as a parent myself.
In addition to the great schools and massive difference in home values, the Sacramento Valley is located near everything! Want to get out in nature? This area has it all from river access to hiking trails, Folsom Lake, and countless scenic areas! Living here, you will find that you are less than 2 hours away from Lake Tahoe or the beach- yet daily life is afforable and enjoyable. Looking for horse property? Country living? City living? Suburbs? We literally have it all in the 6 county region!
The Bay Area is hard to compete with- the beauty, the history and the mild weather are hard to match, but the cost of living, the overcrowded freeways and higher crime makes it worth a trip up this way to see what life could be like in a calmer setting.
In my opinion, the biggest change living here vs the bay area is the hot summer months. The weather in the Sacramento Valley gets HOT- we’re talking 90-115 in the summertime, but the winters are mild, all the homes are equipped with air conditioning and if being hot is the only downside, I will take it all day every day.
If you are living in the bay area and are considering a move up north, I would love the chance to show you all the different areas the Sacramento Valley offers. I relocated here from Burlingame, CA in 2000 swearing to all my friends and family that the move was temporary- well, 26 years later- I think it’s safe to say I am not going anywhere! I can say you may miss being so close to the beach- that was tough for me, but I don’t think you will miss the traffic, the tolls, the crime, or the skyrocketing prices. I know that I didn’t.
